Provisions

We are no longer deeply impressed with cold and warm water from the tap, a fan and air conditioner to keep us cool day and night, sockets for plugging in our electric devices, speedboats that take us where we want to go and of course meals and drinks at our bidding. All these things seem so unsurprising that we never stop and think about how all this is actually accomplished.

You may not be aware of this, but in the middle of the island many people are busy making your stay as a guest a comfortable one.

Some interesting facts:
The resort has a staff of 200 for a maximum of 254 guests.

20 staff members clean and sweep the sand around the bungalows. They also trim and support the trees on the island where necessary.

95.000 litres of diesel oil is necessary every month to provide electricity for the island and the boats. By day two 200kW diesel-generators generate electricity. At night one 500KW diesel-generator keeps running. The diesel-generators produce a continuous humming noise despite the silencers. On the south-beach closest to the Palm Groove restaurant it is possible to hear this noise in some Deluxe rooms.

145.000 litres of water is consumed a day (max.). This water is provided by two modern desalination units, where the water is desalinated, filtered and chlorinated. It is not drinking water.

The resort has a well-equipped laundry with modern washing machines. If you have your clothes cleaned, however, it will be done manually.

The resort has a large modern kitchen at its disposal. Fresh food is supplied every morning and is prepared immediately. The remains are milled and pumped into the sea after each meal.

The resort has two mobile fire-extinguisher units. Although the bungalows have stone walls, the roofs are made of dried palm-leaves. The main buildings also have much woodwork besides the roofs of dried palm-leaves.

Furthermore, 4 staff members take care of your safety day and night. They work in shifts of two.

Tip
Though it may not be the first place you think of when planning an excursion, the workplace in the middle of the island is worth a visit.
